This week we have been learning how to ask someone their name in Te Reo Maori by saying "Ko Wai To Ingoa?" - "What is your name?" We reply by saying "Ko Elias Toku Ingoa" which means "My name is Elias" or we can say "Ko Elias Ahau" which means "I am Elias".
Enjoy our videos below that will show you how we use these Maori phrases in Room 7.

ReplyDeleteWell done Nicole for sharing your learning with others using the blog! Tino Pai!
DeleteHi Room 7,
ReplyDeleteWe are a Year 3-4 class at Vardon School in Room 11. We see that you have put your Maori phrase of the week on your blog as well. We have just won a class award at assembly for doing the same thing.
What Year is your class? How many classes do you have at your school? (We have 15).
Have you had other Maori phrases? We have one every week. Every Monday morning at our whole school assembly Mrs Anderson and a couple of senior students share the new phrase of the week. We go back to class we talk about it, what it means, we write it on our big Maori Phrase of the Week poster and write it in our Te Reo books and practice with a buddy. We take turns to video each other sharing the Maori Phrase of the Week and put it on our blog. What do you do when you get a Maori Phrase, how do you practice it?
