Reading

Try out these fun reading games!

Term Three:
From Amazon.com
It's Halloween and Monica Anderson is out Trick-or-Treating with her younger brother. They knock on the door of an old, creepy house and are met by a strange woman who pleads for their help. Every year she must battle for the control of five sacred masks with the evil Dr. Screem. These artifacts have the power to manipulate the world around them. Monica doesn't want to help at first but then Screem bursts in and steals the masks. This sets her and her brother off on a Halloween mission that will change their lives forever!

We are enjoying reading an R.L.Stine book at the moment. We have learned very quickly that, as an author, he is really good at keeping you interested in what will happen next in the story. He is able to do this by using effective language and finishing a chapter in a way that doesn't tell you everything so that you will want to read on to find out what happens next.

Term Two:
Room 7 has started reading a new novel for Term 2!
It is the first book of a series of books written by Colin Thompson.
It is called "Neighbours" and the series is "The Floods".

If you would like to know more about The Floods, go to the link below and you can explore the different characters rooms in the Flood's home.

Term One:

We have started reading "Billionaire Boy" written by David Walliams. Below is the synopsis from Amazon.co.uk.

Joe has a lot of reasons to be happy. About a billion of them, in fact.
You see, Joe's rich. Really, really rich. Joe's got his own bowling alley, his own cinema, even his own butler who is also an orangutan. He's the wealthiest twelve-year-old in the land.
Yes, Joe has absolutely everything he could possibly want. But there’s just one thing he really needs: a friend…

A beautiful story we read recently more than once is called Have you filled a bucket today?
It has a wonderful message in it which is simply to encourage positive behaviour and how easy and rewarding it is to express kindness, love and appreciation to others.

We have started reading a R.L.Stine book called Why I quit Zombie school.

The story is about a young boy, Matt, who is enrolled into a boarding school where things appear to be very strange! We are really enjoying reading it because every chapter leaves us wanting to know what happens next. R.L.Stine is an excellent writer who knows how to hook in the reader!

We are reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.

It is a story about a boy called Greg Heffley and his best friend Rowley Jefferson and their adventures during their first year at intermediate. Rodrick is Greg's older brother and this story focuses on how they learn to get on with one another.
